A Clinical Study on Head Injury

Abstract
|
|
|
A clinical study was done on 91 patients of head injury which had been treated surgically in Busan National University Hospital, during the fast several years.
The results obtained were summarized as follows;
1. The state of consciousness of the patient at the time of admission to the hospital and mortality were various from clear to coma.
The prognostic value of the state of consciousness as revealing; among 57 patients who were coma state, the mortality was 61.4%.
2. There were 16 patients with chest injury in association with the head injury and 11 patients died, mortality rate was 68.7%.
3. About 45% of the c were due to car accident, and the next was falls, among 35 falls, 11 drunken state.
4. Linear fracture was seen in 47.2%,compound fracture in 11 cases and depressed fracture in 6 cases. The mortality of compound fracture was highest as 81.8%.
5. The mortality of acute subdural hematoma was 72%.
6. Age incidence was bight in the 2nd to 4th decade of 8.1 to 1.
7. 16.4% of the cases were due to industrial accident and the peak age was 3rd to 4th decade.
